Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 14, 2026

By default, Ayumi (Interval Walk) does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. This applies to every version of the app: iPhone, Apple Watch and Android. The only exception is Walking Friends, an optional feature you have to turn on yourself (below).

Health and activity data

On iPhone and Apple Watch, with your permission, the app reads heart rate, distance and active energy from Apple Health during a workout, and saves your completed walks to Apple Health. You can revoke access at any time in Settings > Health.

On Android, with your permission, the app reads the phone's step counter while a walk is in progress in order to estimate how far you walked. It does not use location or GPS. You can revoke access at any time in Settings > Apps > Interval Walk > Permissions.

In every case this data stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to any third party, and your walk history is stored only in the app's own storage on your device.

Walking Friends (optional)

If you turn on Walking Friends, the app sends the following to our server so the friends you add can see it: the nickname you choose, how many minutes you walked on each day of the current and the previous month, your weekly goal, your streak, your featured badge and how many rare badges you have. Your phone also creates a random identifier and key so the server can recognise your updates. No account, email or phone number is involved.

Heart rate, distance, location and any Apple Health data are never sent. This data is used only to show your week to your friends; it is not used for advertising, analytics or tracking, and is not shared with anyone else.

When you turn Walking Friends off, your nickname, summary and identifier are deleted from the server. The server runs on Cloudflare.

Website gallery (optional)

On ayumiwalk.com/gallery you can send us a photo from your walk. With it we store the photo and anything you choose to add (a name or nickname, a city, an Instagram handle and a short note), plus a one-way hash of your IP address used only to limit how many photos can be sent per day. The photo is resized in your browser and all embedded metadata, including location, is removed. Nobody sees a photo until we approve it; approved photos are shown publicly on the website and may be shared on @ayumi.walk on Instagram. Photos from Instagram are only added after asking their owner. To have a photo removed, email us and it is deleted from the server.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play, depending on where you installed the app. We do not receive or store any payment information.

Analytics

The app contains no analytics, no tracking and no ads. Apart from Walking Friends, its only network request is a small version check that sends no personal data. There is no account and nothing to sign in to.

Children

The app is not directed at children.
